LOUISVILLE, Ky.-- A new and fast-spreading variant of the COVID-19 virus has been detected in Louisville.
Metro Health Director Dr. Sarah Moyer says the UK variant was found in one patient who was not a traveler.
Moyer says the presence of the new variant in Louisville is not unexpected. It is more contagious and quickly spreading across the country.
Dr. Valerie Briones-Pryor at UofL Health says the vaccines still offer protection against the new variant.
