LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Metro Council has voted unanimously to pass “Breonna’s Law.”
There was a celebration outside Metro Hall when the vote was announced Thursday evening.
The ordinance completely bans LMPD from using no-knock warrants in Jefferson County. It was sponsored by councilwomen Jessica Green and Barbara Sexton-Smith.
The ordinance is called Breonna's Law in reference to Breonna Taylor, whose death ignited the call for a change in policy. The raid back in March ended with her being fatally shot by police. None of the three officers involved were wearing body cameras.
