(Frankfort, KY) - Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin is conceding in his race for reelection after requesting a recanvass.
Bevin asked for the recanvass after Democratic challenger Andy Beshear appeared to win by more than five-thousand votes last week.
Speaking in Frankfort, Bevin acknowledged that the recanvass results would not a make a significant difference in the vote count.
Bevin wished Beshear well as he transitions into his new role. He says there will be a natural exchange of leadership and he will not second-guess the recanvass results.
Bevin says he is blessed to live in a nation where there is a peaceful transition of power and he expressed gratitude to those who served in his administration.
