(Washington, DC) - Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is under growing criticism from Democrats for blocking bills aimed at boosting election security.
McConnell took to the Senate floor Monday to defend himself, calling the criticism "modern day McCarthyism."
The Kentucky Republican also accused critics of lying about his record. McConnell said he has been consistently critical of Russia for years.
Last week, former Special Counsel Robert Mueller said Russia clearly interfered in the 2016 election and is plotting to up the ante in 2020.
