State Supreme Court Strikes Down Marcy's Law

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. -- Kentucky's Supreme Court has tossed out Marsy's Law.

The high court has upheld the ruling of the trial court that the ballot question for Marsy's Law was insufficient, meaning the measure won't take effect.

The measure, which got the nod in the last general election, would have expanded victims’ rights and allowed them to participate in the judicial process.

Senator Whitney Westerfield, the bill's sponsor, tells WHOP Radio the court's decision is disappointing but says there is support for the bill in the 2020 legislative session.
