Indiana Hate Crimes Bill Gets Final Passage

INDIANAPOLIS -- A hate crimes bill is on its way to Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb for his signature.

The Senate gave final approval to legislation that is aimed at getting Indiana off a list of five states without a hate crimes law.

It allows judges to impose harsher sentences for crimes motivated by bias.

But the measure doesn't explicitly cover age, sex or gender identity -- and that led to Senate Democrats voting against the bill.
