Covington Catholic Student Sues Washington Post for $250 Million

COVINGTON, Ky. -- Lawyers for a Covington Catholic High School Student at the center of a viral video are suing the Washington Post.

The video shows 16-year-old Nick Sandmann face-to-face with a native American protester in Washington D.C.

It set off a nation-wide debate over whether the teenager was taunting the elder.

Additional video was released, showing another side to the story.

Now, Attorneys for Sandmann's family are suing the Washington Post for $250 million in both compensatory and punitive damages, claiming the outlet "wrongfully targeted and bullied Nicholas because he was the white, Catholic student wearing a red 'Make America Great Again' souvenir cap."

They add the Post "ignored basic journalist standards" by reporting the story without first getting all the facts.
