LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A newly-released report says sexual abuse by priests in the Louisville Catholic Archdiocese dates back 70 years.
Tens of thousands of church documents were reviewed by Mark Miller, a former prosecutor who was asked by the archdiocese to investigate credible reports of clergy abuse.
The review found 22 priests had at least one substantiated report of child sexual abuse. Most of the priests are deceased. Eight were prosecuted.
The investigation found no pending reports of abuse involving any active priests.
The report comes 16 years after the Louisville Archdiocese paid $25 million to settle abuse claims by hundreds of victims.
