(Frankfort, KY) - Lawyers for Gov. Matt Bevin are calling on former Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis to pay the nearly $225,000 in legal fees over her refusal to issue marriage certificates to same-sex couples.
The Republican governor has praised Davis in the past. However, his attorneys say Davis failed to do her job.
A three-judge panel of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati will hear the case tomorrow to decide who must pay the fees. A district court ruled in 2017 that Kentucky must do so. The state is appealing that decision.
