WEST LAYFAYETTE, Ind. -- The top target to become Louisville's next football coach says he's heard the noise.
Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm called talk he was in the running for the Louisville job "noise" and "speculation" when he met reporters to discuss Purdue's upcoming game with Wisconsin.
Brohm made his allegiance clear, saying he's happy at Purdue and is focused on getting his team bowl eligible.
The Louisville native says coaching the Cards has not been a dream of his but he maintains "a great appreciation" for Louisville.
Brohm's name had been mentioned for the Louisville job prior to Sunday's firing of Bobby Petrino and he is seen as the early front runner for the opening.
Brohm played for Louisville from 1989 through 1993, appearing in 46 games and passing for over 5,400 yards and 38 touchdowns. He also was an assistant coach under Petrino from 2003 through 2006 and was on the staff of Steve Kragthorpe in the 2007 and 2008 seasons.
