LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Louisville Metro Police have closed the case of a young girl who died in what police initially throught was a hit-and-run crash.
12-year-old Laraya Hill was found dead in Chickasaw Park in May. Police said her injuries were consistent with being hit by a car. Last month, the homicide commander made a public plea for help in solving the case.
Now police say they have determined the incident was a "tragic accident rather than a fatal collision," and no criminal charges will be filed.
A statement, a police spokesman says the department will not be releasing any further details out of respect for the privacy of the family.
