LEXINGTON, Ky. - A University of Kentucky football player has been diagnosed with the most serious type of skin cancer.
Head coach Mark Stoops says defensive end Josh Paschal had skin lesions tested that came back as malignant melanoma.
Stoops said Paschal, who will be a sophomore, had a procedure earlier this week and is now waiting for results to come back.
Paschal played in all of Kentucky's 13 games last season including one start in the Music City Bowl.
He was credited for 17 tackles, including 4.5 for a loss.
Stoops also announced offensive line coach John Schlarman is also battling health issues, but he will continue coaching.
