LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The expansion of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium is coming down the homestretch.
300 workers from Messer Construction Company are on site and working on the interiors of the new club sections and the Schnellenberger Complex renovations.
Senior project manager Jason Larkin says the work is on schedule with some flooring installations set to start next week with drywall to follow.
The seats will be one of the last things installed just before the season starts and the two new jumbotrons will need two months to be installed with that work starting June 11.
Larkin says head coach Bobby Petrino has walked the site a couple of times and the weight room staff has also been an active participant in the project.
The crews will have a 24 hour break for the Taylor Swift show at the stadium June 30 with the first football game in the completed stadium to be played September 8 against Indiana State.
