LMPD Gets 100 Guns Out Of Old Louisville In 101 Days

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- An LMPD initiative has pulled over 100 guns out of Old Louisville.

LMPD's Fourth Division had seized 100 guns in the first 101 days of the year and then another 15 guns in the following 13 days.

Lt. Jason Grissom says the guns have been found in various ways ranging from calls of a gun found in the street to officers arriving on the scene of a ShotSpotter report and making an arrest.

Grissom says of the first 100 guns seized, they made 96 arrests. He says the guns are all tested and cross-checked to see if they have been used in other crimes.

After any prosecution, the guns are sent to the Kentucky State Police as required by law where they are sold at auction.
