LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A man who spent more than in prison for a crime he did not commit will receive a multi-million dollar settlement from the city of Louisville.
Kerry Porter will receive $7.5 million after he was wrongfully convicted for the 1996 murder of Tyrone Camp.
From 1998 until 2011, Porter sat in prison for Camp’s murder. DNA testing would later rule out Porter as a suspect, and a judge ordered his release in December 2011.
The murder of Tyrone Camp remains unsolved.
Porter’s attorney wants LMPD detectives to recuse themselves from a re-investigation into Camp's death.
Josh Abner, a spokesman for the Jefferson County Attorney's office, which represented the city in the lawsuit, said there was no admission of liability.
