My 84 year old fishing partner, Charlie Capshaw and I just returned from a fabulous fishing trip to Kentucky Lake. As you can see, the big red ear, bluegill and catfish were really biting! The pan fish were spawning in the bays and the catfish were right up there with them. We caught the bluegill and red ear on small tube jigs and the catfish were really hitting shrimp suspended beneath a bobber. We caught four coolers full of fish in a day and a half of fishing, which makes for a lot of fish fries.
This action should continue up through mid June. There is really no place like Kentucky Lake. We stayed at The Fin-N-Feather Lodge in Aurora,Ky. Which is my usual haunt when I am fishing done there. Ken Weaver is the new owner and he is continuing the tradition of accommodating fishermen and hunters. I highly recommend them and the number to call for reservations is 270-474-2351.
