Metro Council Advances No Confidence Resolution Against Conrad

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A resolution of no confidence in LMPD Chief Steve Conrad moves forward in the Metro Council.

On a 3-2 vote, the resolution cleared the Public Safety Committee after an hour of debate, sending it to next week's meeting of the full Metro Council

Opponents of the resolution argue replacing the chief won't do anything to lower the city's skyrocketing homicide rate.

The legislation's supporters acknowledge the crime rate may not drop under a new chief but new leadership would increase morale in the department.

Mayor Greg Fischer has called the resolution a distraction and says Chief Conrad has his full support.
