Karen Sypher To Be Released From Federal Custody

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The woman convicted of trying to extort Rick Pitino is going home.

Six and a half years after her conviction for trying to extort cash and more from Rick Pitino, Karen Sypher will walk out of a federal halfway house Friday, ending her sentence. She will still have two years of supervised release that mandate her contact with a federal probation office, that she keep or look for a job and avoid excessive alcohol.

Sypher served the majority of her time at a facility in Alabama but the federal Department of Corrections is not saying where the halfway house is located or where Sypher may go once released.
