LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- One man is dead and an officer is shot following an alleged robbery near Churchill downs.
Police received word that a home was being robbed on Oleanda Avenue Saturday night.
Once inside the home, they found the suspect, a man believed to be in his 20s, on the second floor. The suspect then struck an officer in the chest and was fatally shot in return.
The officer was rushed to University hospital with a gunshot wound to his hand and a chest injury.
LMPD Chief Steve Conrad says they'll be holding a press conference on Monday with more information.
